Water purification company in Los Angeles County, CA

Los Angeles County draws water from the Colorado River, the Los Angeles Aqueduct, and local groundwater, creating hardness levels that shift by neighborhood. The San Fernando Valley blends more groundwater and regularly measures 18 to 22 GPG, while Westside areas served by Metropolitan Water District imports run closer to 14 to 17 GPG. Water quality also changes season to season: during dry years the county leans harder on Colorado River water, which carries a heavier mineral load. Homes across the county share one constant — water that exceeds the national average hardness threshold in every service zone.

Matching the Right System to LA's Variable Water Sources

Los Angeles County does not have one water hardness number — it has dozens. The San Fernando Valley pulls more from local groundwater wells and regularly tests at the high end of the county's 12 to 22 GPG range. The Westside and beach cities receive a larger share of imported surface water and tend to run softer. Sizing a water softener to a county-wide average misses the mark for most homes.

Seasonal blending makes the problem more complex. During drought years, LADWP increases its draw from the Colorado River, which carries a heavier mineral load than State Water Project supplies. Homeowners in the same neighborhood may notice their water feels harder in summer than in winter. A whole-house filtration system sized for peak hardness protects appliances year-round, not just during the softer months.

Some communities in Los Angeles County restrict or discourage salt-based water softeners to protect local recycled water programs. Santa Clarita is one example where salt discharge limits apply. We match each home to the right technology for its specific water source, hardness reading, and local rules — whether that means a traditional water softener, a salt-free system, or a layered whole-house filtration approach.

Every service, available in Los Angeles County, CA

Water Softeners are the most requested solution across Los Angeles County because nearly every service zone exceeds 10 GPG — the threshold where scale builds on water heaters, showerheads, and pipe walls. Whole-House Filtration addresses the chromium-6 and disinfection byproducts that appear in LADWP water quality reports, giving every tap in the home treated water. For households in Santa Clarita and other communities where salt-based softeners face local restrictions, Salt-Free Systems provide scale control without the sodium discharge those areas limit.

Affordable, Efficient, No Leaks!! They gave an estimate that was much less than another company. I had them install a water heater and a water softening system I purchased at Home Depot. Everything was installed in half a day and they upgraded existing parts and fittings when necessary. The workmanship is great and I am extremely satisfied!!!

I had a water softener and RO drinking water installed in March of 2024. Brandon was communicative, fair, and did a great job. I meant to write a review back then, but it slipped my mind. I can’t speak to their customer service after install, because I haven’t had any issues, and my RO filters haven’t slowed down/needed changing yet. I’ll update my review when that time comes! I wish I’d made these purchases 10 years earlier instead of renting a water softener. The company I rented from before (Matilija) kept raising the monthly fee for their depreciating equipment, never came to test the equipment/water to make sure it was working, and were completely unresponsive when I called and emailed. Working with Brandon was a breath of fresh air!

We have been putting off a drinking water system on our new home for the last year. We wish we would've had done this a lot earlier. I reached out to pure water filtration and Brandon got back to me immediately. He gave me a quote over the phone, we scheduled the install three days later and he was very communicative. He was on time, called us when he was on his way and installed the system extremely quickly. This company is fast and effective and they are very professional and courteous. Very glad I called this company, they are awesome. We are in communication with them for a full home filtration system. Thank you, Brandon for your great work and amazing customer service.

Absolutely beautiful job! Brandon was on time, he was very informative on what he was doing, respectful of the property and did his best to be quiet (our baby was napping at the time- she didn't wake up at all during the install!) We absolutely recommend Pure Water Filtration. Invest in treating your home water; your plumbing and your health will thank you.

Water Purification Company FAQ for Los Angeles County, CA

Common questions from Los Angeles County, CA customers about our services, process, and coverage.

During dry months, LADWP increases its draw from the Colorado River, which carries more dissolved minerals than State Water Project surface water. This seasonal blending shifts hardness levels across the county. A water softener sized for your peak hardness level keeps your appliances protected regardless of which source is feeding your home at any given time.

Santa Clarita restricts salt-based water softeners to protect its recycled water program from excess sodium discharge. Salt-free systems condition the water and prevent scale without adding sodium, making them the compliant choice for homes in that area. We can confirm the rules for your specific community before recommending a system.

Yes. The San Fernando Valley draws more from local groundwater wells, which tend to carry higher mineral concentrations than imported surface water. Valley neighborhoods regularly test at 18 to 22 GPG, placing them at the hardest end of the county's range. Homes there typically see faster scale buildup on water heaters and fixtures than Westside properties on the same appliance age.

LADWP water quality reports have detected chromium-6 above some health advocacy guidelines, along with disinfection byproducts that form when chlorine reacts with organic matter in the supply. A whole-house filtration system with activated carbon addresses these compounds at every tap. Reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink adds a second layer of protection for drinking and cooking water.
