Water purification company in Orange County, CA

Orange County water comes from a blend of local groundwater replenished through the Groundwater Replenishment System and imported supplies from the Colorado River and Northern California's State Water Project. That blend pushes hardness to 8 to 19 GPG across most of the county, with inland communities like Yorba Linda, Brea, and Anaheim regularly testing at the high end of that range. PFAS contamination has been detected in several Orange County groundwater wells, and the Orange County Water District has invested in treatment and remediation, though trace levels remain present in portions of the regional supply. The mix of dense suburban neighborhoods, newer master-planned communities in Irvine, and older post-war housing stock in Anaheim and Fullerton means water treatment needs vary significantly by city and property age.

Protecting OC Homes from Hard Water Scale and Groundwater Contaminants

Orange County's inland communities sit at the hardest end of the county's water range. Yorba Linda measures 17.8 to 19 GPG, with Brea and Anaheim close behind at 16 to 18 GPG. At those levels, a tankless water heater can lose measurable efficiency within two years and scale buildup can void the manufacturer's warranty before the unit reaches its expected service life. A water softener installed at the point of entry stops that mineral accumulation before it reaches any appliance.

PFAS contamination has been confirmed in several Orange County groundwater wells. The Orange County Water District has invested in treatment and remediation, but trace PFAS remain present in portions of the regional supply. A water softener does not remove PFAS. A reverse osmosis system at the kitchen sink does, along with arsenic, chromium-6, nitrates, and the elevated total dissolved solids that OC's imported water sources carry.

Irvine's newer master-planned neighborhoods and Anaheim's older post-war housing stock present different installation conditions. Irvine homes often have modern plumbing layouts with accessible utility spaces, while older Anaheim and Fullerton properties may have aging galvanized or copper lines where scale has already narrowed the interior diameter. Whole-house filtration in those older homes addresses both the incoming water quality and the sediment that aging pipes can contribute to the supply.

Every service, available in Orange County, CA

Water Softeners are in high demand across inland Orange County, where Yorba Linda leads the county at 17.8 to 19 GPG and Anaheim runs close behind at 16 to 18 GPG — levels that accelerate scale damage on tankless water heaters and reduce appliance efficiency. Reverse Osmosis systems address the PFAS, chromium-6, and elevated total dissolved solids that appear in OC groundwater, removing compounds that a water softener's ion exchange process does not target. Whole-House Filtration provides a broader solution for homes that want scale control, chloramine reduction, and sediment removal at every tap rather than just at the kitchen sink.

Affordable, Efficient, No Leaks!! They gave an estimate that was much less than another company. I had them install a water heater and a water softening system I purchased at Home Depot. Everything was installed in half a day and they upgraded existing parts and fittings when necessary. The workmanship is great and I am extremely satisfied!!!

I had a water softener and RO drinking water installed in March of 2024. Brandon was communicative, fair, and did a great job. I meant to write a review back then, but it slipped my mind. I can’t speak to their customer service after install, because I haven’t had any issues, and my RO filters haven’t slowed down/needed changing yet. I’ll update my review when that time comes! I wish I’d made these purchases 10 years earlier instead of renting a water softener. The company I rented from before (Matilija) kept raising the monthly fee for their depreciating equipment, never came to test the equipment/water to make sure it was working, and were completely unresponsive when I called and emailed. Working with Brandon was a breath of fresh air!

We have been putting off a drinking water system on our new home for the last year. We wish we would've had done this a lot earlier. I reached out to pure water filtration and Brandon got back to me immediately. He gave me a quote over the phone, we scheduled the install three days later and he was very communicative. He was on time, called us when he was on his way and installed the system extremely quickly. This company is fast and effective and they are very professional and courteous. Very glad I called this company, they are awesome. We are in communication with them for a full home filtration system. Thank you, Brandon for your great work and amazing customer service.

Absolutely beautiful job! Brandon was on time, he was very informative on what he was doing, respectful of the property and did his best to be quiet (our baby was napping at the time- she didn't wake up at all during the install!) We absolutely recommend Pure Water Filtration. Invest in treating your home water; your plumbing and your health will thank you.

Water Purification Company FAQ for Orange County, CA

Common questions from Orange County, CA customers about our services, process, and coverage.

Yorba Linda leads Orange County at 17.8 to 19 GPG, with Brea and Anaheim close behind at 16 to 18 GPG. Irvine runs somewhat lower at 12 to 16 GPG but still falls well above the USGS hard water threshold of 7 GPG. Coastal cities generally test softer than inland communities because their source blend includes a larger share of treated imported surface water.

No. A water softener uses ion exchange to remove calcium and magnesium, but it does not capture PFAS, chromium-6, or other chemical contaminants detected in OC groundwater. A reverse osmosis system at the kitchen sink removes PFAS along with arsenic, nitrates, and elevated total dissolved solids. Many OC homeowners pair a whole-house softener with an under-sink RO unit to address both hardness and chemical contaminants.

Yes, it can. Anaheim water runs 16 to 18 GPG, and scale buildup at that hardness level reduces a tankless heater's efficiency measurably within two years. Some manufacturers specify a maximum hardness level in their warranty terms, and exceeding it without a softener installed can void coverage. A water softener at the point of entry prevents scale from reaching the heater's heat exchanger.

Irvine water meets all federal Safe Drinking Water Act standards, but trihalomethanes and chloramine residuals remain detectable above California's Public Health Goals — the benchmarks set for no significant long-term health risk. Total dissolved solids in Irvine run 400 to 600 mg/L, compared to 50 mg/L in premium bottled water. A reverse osmosis system at the kitchen tap reduces TDS, chloramine byproducts, and other dissolved compounds to levels closer to bottled water quality.
